Doc;

The original mast was from Z Spar which is no longer in the country but parts are attainable from US Spars in Gainesville Florida. Here is the problem. When you mix match parts of the mast particularly the mast foot and attachement of the spreaders to the mast from various manufacturers, it probably will not work. A good example is the mast foot from dwyer being inserted into the base of a Z Spar mast and they will not fit well and when poop riveted together or screwed together, you are destroying the integrity of the bottom of the mast by makeiing it fit. Not good. I know both manufactures.

Can you cut off an inch of the mast? Maybe if the shrouds and forestay can be adjusted to accommodate the mast being shortened. As for welding pot metal, forget it and that includes aluminum when it comes to masts.

Here is my email and send me your contact information as I hav arthritis in the hands and would prefer to talk. The 23.5 was my child an only if you knew my involvement. If you need confirmation of knowledge just ask the question.

I never heard back from Doc on this matter and will close this file unless he wants help.

Like I said, trying to make parts fit from various manufacturers on masts, spreaders and so on will generally not work unless you have the right fit and when trying to make it work when in reality it will not fit can and will create issues and gents, I have worked on many masts over the years.

Finally Checked Mine for Alingment

The pivot pin is in a direct line with the loops that the mast raising bridle attach to.

When you reassemble the foot and base that could make a difference in keeping this from happening again.
