Mast raising pole mast fitting?

I just made a mast raising pole for a friend's Hunter 212. I was amazed how easily it raised the mast from a level position. Which got me to thinking, why don't we have one of those??
Well the only thing holding me back is this, where do I get the attachment fitting that the pole uses to attach to the mast? I have no clue what it is called so I am having a hard time trying to Google my way to it. I know some people just strap the pole to the mast but I would really prefer to pin the pole to the fitting that is solidly attached to the mast.
His bracket had a 1/4 pin that ran horizontally through the fitting. I drilled the pole and ran the pin through it. Piece of cake and worked great.

Thanks
Sam

Ronn,
Thanks for the info. The hound or bail is for the connection on up the mast if you don't use the jib halyard. I need a fitting that is at the front side base of the mast that has a horizontal pin in it. The mast raising pole goes inside this yoke and the pin goes through the pole holding it in place. It is like a fixed gooseneck with a horizontal pin. I am sure it has some creative name, I just can't guess what it is. I am trying to find pic of the one of the 212 as I am sure that would help explain what I need better.

I found the pic. This is the fitting at the base of the mast on the Hunter 212 that the mast raising pole attaches to.

The throat it 1" wide and there is a 1/4" pin running horizontally through the fitting.

I'm heading out to my boat today to lower the mast. I'll try and remember to take a picture of the mast bail that I installed. The only addition I would make to what I installed is to put a tang on each side so I can attach baby stays. Right now, when we raise the mast using our gin pole it tends to wander from side to side. I hope that baby stays will solve that problem.

I first started with a single mast raising pole but switched to an A frame when I found both single pole and mast needed baby stays. The Mac shrouds are aft of the tabernacle so they don't work until the mast is fully raised. I've also only used cargo straps for baby stays in thinking that fewer corrosion points added to the boat is better. The straps stay in place when kept in tension the same as a timber hitch will. After raising the mast it is the same as when I got the boat except older like me.

Thanks Dave. Last night I got to wondering if it might have been made by Hunter or the mast company after no one replied with the name of the part. I was thinking it surely had some obscure name like a picket fence, or a buck tooth Sally but I guess not.
After having Google tell me it did not exist after wearing out their search engine looking for it I just ordered some high strength aluminum alloy channel and will make my own. I made my pole yesterday from a really nice extension tube for a concrete bull float. Metal for the bracket should be in today and I will be all set to head to the lake Saturday so we can start enjoying the boat instead of working on it all the time!

Really looking forward to much easier mast raising.

Can you tell which mast you have and I will make an inquiry for you sir. Send me a private email with the photo of it. Please remind me which boat that is on. I await your response.

No worries Dave. I made my own bracket and it worked out fine. Headed to the lake tomorrow when I get back on the ground. Calling for rain and storms tomorrow night. The tent top and fire mount will get their first try on the water.

There is no picture but is this what you are looking for? You can confirm that is what you want before ordering.

Also there is an article that describes a nice system. They made there own bracket welding together some dwyer parts.

I used a simple yoke that goes over the pin in the mast for my gin pole. Similar to this but with a winch on the gin pole.

Tom,
Thanks for the info. I gave up and made my own as I wanted to be able to use it when we launched today. That is probably the part I was looking for.
We are sitting at the ramp waiting g on a storm to slack up do we can get rigged and on the water.
