Thank you for the "Bird Scaring Tactics" ....... While getting ready to lower the mast to put a new wind vane .... Guess what, I drop the mast raising pole into the water30 feet of dirty water no chance .... besides Hunter Marine ...... where can I purchase one? Hunter will make one but I am afraid of the cost ..... Any ideas G

BIG magnet???

I've seen a few sources that sell magnets that you lower on a line to lift upto a couple hundred pounds from the sea floor. They are fairly inexpensive. That may be an option. One problem though, if memory serves me correctly, stainless steel is non-magnetic. Anyone remember if the mast raising pole is SS?

Pole

The mast-raising pole for my H260 is stainless. Magnet won't help. Do you have any friends who SCUBA? Good luck. Ralph C. Regar S/V Shambala

pole

George; What year is your boat and can you describe the pole. First, is it a Z-spar. does it insert into a hole at the base of the mast and also what is the hole diameter. You pay the freight and I may have the right one for you. The cost of the pole will be a cup of coffee and a handshake aside from freight if I have it. advise info Crazy Dave

Speaking of Birds

I have the same mast raising system you've talked about. The hole in my mast was used as a bird house the first year we got the boat. Since then I've placed a piece of duct tape over the hole every spring. Still haven't got all the nesting material out of there. "Festivity" H26 1996
