Would it be diffiicult four guys to raise a Capri 26 mast?
Do you recommand better to use a mast crane to get the job done?

I see that this is your second post on the this subject. I wish I could help but I haven't to raise a mast yet. Your not being ignored.

YOU CAN DO IT, maybe 5 guys though. Here is what we did on my friends columbia 28. We were a little lucky the water level was quite low compared to the dock so we had a head start. Pull boat into the slip with the mast on the rails. Have a long 2x4 with a Y at the top. Put the biggest guy at the base of the mast (mast slid forward to mounting location) to position it as it goes up and to keep it from kicking out. One guy on each shroud standing on docks on each side, use a line tied to the shroud if you need more length. The other 2 lift the mast a little at a time till the 2x4 can get under it, then they both push up and walk it up, as the guys with the shrouds steady it side to side, oh yea a line on the back stay is helpful too. Rig the backstay line to a pully and to the wiinch if you need more help lifting (requires another person) italso takes alot of weight off the guys with the stick.
It sounds like alot of rigamarole but I have done it spriing and fall with him. If you are still on the trailer it could be alot harder as the first lift has to be alot higher, unless maybe you are on a step ladder in the back of a truck.
Let us know ,

Rigger

If you have never raised a mast, I would recommend hiring a rigger. You'll have to get him to set up the tension, bend, etc., and inspect the rigging for rust, corrosion, fatigue, etc anyway. Good time to inspect, with mast down.

The mast is not all that heavy. Four guys could do it. But if you don't know how, don't. Get the rigger to help, then learn from him.

Thank you all for your valuable input. The boat is in the water. I have hired some one to do the rigging for me. He will be using a mast crane.

I just posted 2 you tube videos of my Rubaiyat being lifted and set in the water with the crane and then the mast getting set. Just search you tube channel: blowinganddrifting.

I also have a Capri 26 and thought I would raise the mast myself as the previous owner had a make shift mast raising system. However looking at the size of the mast I chose to have the marina crane it up for me, money well spent, in my opinion.
