O'day 240 Muskegon
I just purchased a O'day 240 in Baltimore and brought it back to Michigan. The trailer had a mast boom installed and it worked great to set the mast in short order I guided the raising mast as the partner cranked the winch. The sheave is 128" above the tongue.

The trailer for my O 240 has the same setup. Makes it very easy to raise and lower the mast.

You will love the O 240. This is my 3rd season with mine. I purchased it in Michigan and trailered her to NJ.

Do these systems use a gin pole to create and maintain an angle between the mast and forestay? I take it you are winching the forestay?

No gin pole. I don't use the forestay. I loop a 8 foot section of rope around the mast, just above the spreaders. I then connect the rope from the winch to the rope already around the mast. One person controls the winch while another stands on the cabin top to steady the mast. Once up the head stay is attached and the ropes removed.

Ah! Thanks! Do you use a mast crutch on the stern to raise it a little before winching?

Yes I do, the crutch raises the mast about 5 or 6 feet above the stern.

Okie dokie. Thanks so much. That is a good solution for raising it on the trailer!
