I have a 1983 O'23. When I removed the mast for general maintainance, I notice that the plug-in sockets from the coach roof to the wiring for the mast light had deteriorated. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement? Thanks

the usual suspects

All of the big catalog outfits, West Marine, BoatUS, Defender, etc., have them. Just make sure you don't confuse 12v connections with VHF cable connections. When replacing the plugs, make sure that you seal up the new connections with those heat-shrink weather-proof protectors.

Re-Wiring

Hi Terry, West Marine has a selection of sockets that will fill your bill. The only problem that you may come up on is being able to pull enough wire out of the coach roof to connect up the new socket. Many boats install the wiring harness between the liner and deck with ties that hold them in firmly. Your best option may be to install a new length of wires to the new socket, install the new socket with the new wires going into the cabin below, then route the new wires along a bulkhead over to the side and splice them into the existing wiring. You can them cover the exposed wires with a piece of stained wood. Where in Orange Beach do you sail. I recently returned from a Trailer Sailor gathering at Pirates Cove Marina with 25 other boats. I would like to be able to invite you along on the next one. Ben Allen Montgomery, AL "Latte Dah" O'Day 26 benallen1@mindspring.com

Thanks, Ben

Great Picture! I used to keep my boat on a trailer at Pirate's Cove. Now I rent space on a private dock up the canal from Orange Beach Marina. It's a nice, well protected "hurricane hole. You can contact me directly at pampel@gulftel,com. At this moment, "la Cara Vita" is on the hard in my driveway, so It'll be around June before I'm back out. Thanks for the info and the invite. Terry
