I have built a plate for my mast (boot). I trying to figure out how to attach it to my boat. Basically what I built is a 3x8 heavy duty metal swivel so I can put the mast pin in and not loose the bottom when raising the mast. Any ideas?? Should I drill through the boat and fasten with 2 bolts front and back?? Thanks, Troy Baker

hinge-type thing?

I think we had something similar when we first got our boat - you could drop the foot of the mast down onto a hinge and just pivot it up as you raised the mast. It was through-bolted onto the cabin roof, and worked well. Only problem was, the bolts were backed with tiny little washers that had started to bite into the cabin ceiling a bit... Ours had 6 bolts total, but I would think 2 front and back could be enough. Good luck, Scott
