I thank you for the responses to the previous post, however I do think that I need to be more specific. The "clanging" I have is inside the mast, not the outside. I pretty much know that its the wireing. Wanted to know if anyone had a fix that would not involve taking down the mast.

I get it, it's NOT the halyard, it's inside - I had the same problem. The folks at the factory in 1986 neglected to put the anchor light wiring inside the plastic conduit that is inside the mast. The wire slap was horrible. We lived with it until the mast was pulled during our standing rigging replacement. Others may suggest wire ties and foam, but I don't know how it can be done efficiently and completely without pulling the stick. If so, I'd love to hear. Good luck, I feel your pain. Stu

I had the same problem with my old H25, I dropped the mast and stuffed it with fun noodles. I did have an idea though, assuming you have external halyards. If you can remove something to expose a hole or if you don't mind ...drill a hole big enough to stuff a party balloon into, leave the neck outside the mast then fill the balloon with spray foam. once it hardens cut off the neck and sleep in peace. Sounds crazy but it just might work.

Patrick! I had the same exact idea, but thought it seemed too simple to work. Actually, I was thinking of getting some poly tubing on a roll, seal one end, feed it down the mast from the mast head (if I can get my girlfriend in a bosun's chair, (you aint gettin' me up there!!) then shoot foam down it. This way the foam would be contained.
