HI, I need to replace a mast light for my Hunter 260 yr 2002. I have removed the old light and it is a Hellamarine 158. There are two bulbs one I believe is a steaming light. The lights I find on the sites are strictly anchor lights. Any ideas, I would like to keep this simple including the same wiring configuration.

I very seldom motor or sail at night, do I need the steaming light feature? Can anyone provide a source?

Thank you very much.

Whatever you do go for LEDs, they will likely out live your ownership of the boat and provide added briliance for safety.

It is a Combination Light

The front bulb is your steaming light lights up 225 degrees the rear bulb lights up in combination with the front to give you 360 degrees of light for your anchor light.

You need one like this:

PERKO

Fixed-Mount Combination Masthead/All-Round Lights

Need?

It is a requirement that a boat our size have both, even if they are never turned on. Knowing you will seldom use it allows you to choose a cheaper replacement.

I can attest to the value of a steaming light on a dark night. It is much easier to avoid a collision when you can determine the direction of the other boat from a distance.

The light Rick showed is not the only one available. Check the major marine internet sites.

Thank you all for the information regarding requirements and available replacements. NOw I know what to ask for and I may spend a few extra bucks for a quality light. Once the mast is raised one can only hope the light survives the exposure. Thanks again for the response. Earl Keim II
