Mast inside cabin shorter than normal?

Very few Sailboats have this issue. We are in the process of purchasing a Hunter 44DS,'06. The problem is the Mast inside the cabin was 3/8" shorter than normal. They have put a shim in place and bolted it down w/4 bolts. Will this make a difference in the strength in the mast and what about the stress being put on it. Do you see any problems with this issue. Answer as best you can...

Are you talking about the mast compression post? If so, I really don't think it would be problem as long as it was done in crafty manner.

Don't think that is unusual.

Marty: I am now sure that this is unusual. I would check with a rigger in the area and get their opinion.
