MacGregor Venture 21 Petoskey
I have a 21ft MacGregor boat that I have had for 20+ years. I am wondering if anyone knows where I can get a mast holder to hold the mast off the stern when trailering. I seen something on the newer MacGregors that mount using the rutter pins but am open to any type. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Manny

Check with Bluewater Yachts in Seattle, Wa. They specialize in Venture stuff. Phone # 800-688-8626. Nice Folks. The mast crutch is basically a piece of one inch steel tubing with a couple of rudder pins attached about 5-6 feet long. The top is a piece of flatiron welded to the top and shaped like a "V". I replaced mine with a roller so I could step the mast myself. Fair winds, Old Salt....

This is what I use along with a center support because some of the freways make you say ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah.

Here's what we use, but it takes a stern rail. Not sure if yours has it, but I thought I'd put in my two cents. We swivel it down when we are sailing. I also support the middle of the mast while trailering if it's a long distance. We got a block of styrofoam from a trailer sales place that they used to block between stacked trailers for delivery. I wrapped it with the shrink wrap you can buy in rolls (to keep it from shedding bits of styrofoam all over) and it works very well.

Good luck!

my previous owner had a 1" sq tube welded up for an aft mast support.

but the fabricator didn't get it right, it isn't square to the boat. and very heavy... but I still use it.

then I moved my original brackets to the rear and keep the stock wood support incase I need to drop the mast, not near my car where the iron one stays.

(widex no longer sell the model I have (removable / fits in bracket slots attached to mast) and wondered if I loose mine what I'd do) TIA!

Yes, I do, but I tie the Windex so it doesn't windmill. I've replaced it once because hail hit it and the brittle plastic shattered. Not a cheap item to replace, but indespensible. I used some shrink tubing to hold it on the antenna, which is just the right size for the hole in the indicator.
