would anyone know what the original mast head light was on a 1977 27ft hunter. I'm going to rent a lift and I want to have the correct light before I go up. I also want to make sure everything is in working order up there. Thanks
Okay I'll give the bosuns chair a try but having never tried it which is safer in a slip or up on jacks. Its currently on jacks but I can wait and do it after I launchMy 1990 H27 has Aquasignal Series 25 lights, but rhythmsurfer is right, you can find lots of lights that will work, and if you don't have a bosuns chair, you can get a rock climbing harness from REI or EMS for much less $, they aren't quite as comfortable to sit in for long periods of time, but are equally safe, if not more so, depending on the bosuns chair you are looking at.
Regardless of which way you decide to do it, be sure that you have an additional halyard attached in case of a failure.Okay I'll give the bosuns chair a try but having never tried it which is safer in a slip or up on jacks. Its currently on jacks but I can wait and do it after I launch

I think two teams are safest. Make sure you tie your main halyard free end with a Bowline in case your shackle slips/breaks. Use your main as a primary and spinnaker halyard as a safety. I'll loop the safety under my arms in the event the harness/chair breaks/tears and secure it with a owline.Okay I'll give the bosuns chair a try but having never tried it which is safer in a slip or up on jacks. I have mast light problems, too, on a '93 Hunter 27but I've noted there are wiring tears and fraying at the deck connectors. I'm going to have to search for the connectors, I'm afraid, if cleaning the connectors and taping them doesn't work.
Upon closer examination, having worked through a priority list of other things after purchasing the Blue Pearl, I determined the wire was cut/broken at the mast itself with no excess wire able to be pulled through. It is a white wire and separate from a black one.West Marine carries a 4 pin connector that is a good replacment for the original fitting.
