The diagram is in the owner's manual, which it sounds like you don't have. There are electronic versions all over the internet, try the C22 organization, you should have a copy.

I have the manual. This diagram shows the halyards within the mast itself. My boat does not have the access cutouts for that configuration. Apparently my halyards must remain external.

Early versions of the c22 had external halyards.

Not sure when they cut over to internal.

The original exterior halyards were also part cable,(connected to the sail head), and line. They ran down the exterior of the mast. Our 1980 C-22 had a winch on the port side of the mast to pull the main up tight and a cleat to tie the halyard off. Catalina Direct came out with an all line conversion, and their catalog shows several kits to run the halyards to the cockpit for the older design boats. Don't know when the internal halyard design was done at the factory, I suspect with the MK-II's as all 3 MK-II's I've owned,(1996-2006) had factory internal halyards that were run to the cockpit.
