I have a old tornado class catamaran and I recently found a hole corroded into the aluminum mast. The hole is about 2/3 up the mast just below the diamond wire spanners. The corroded area is about a quarter in size and the actual hole is about the half the size of a dime. Can I have this fixed without destroying the structural integrity of the mast? I was thinking about having the hole welded closed and then adding a brace to the area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
