My recently aquired 1982 is missing its boot collar. I have installed a mast collar to keep out water but this does nothing to align the mast to the deck. I bought the boat with the mast stepped, can I make my own collar or are the stock collars available?

Bob, for the past 3 years, every time it rained, water would pour down my mast where the old neoprene collar was so rotten that it was usless. I JUST purchased and put on my mast a new product by Windblown Products called Mastboot. It is a self bonding, self adhearing, rubberized mastboot tape that seems to do the trick. Since it hasn't rained since I put it on 2 days ago (I just poured a few buckets of water on it...no water intrusion) I haven't been able to really test it...... here is a link to the product and where i bought it..... http://www.newjsi.com/detail.aspx?ID=1615 Mike C. As far as I know, Rudy Nickerson of D&R Marine, Assonet Ma. (508)644-3001, has all the parts for O'Day Sailboats. He probably has it in stock. Give him a call and he can fill you in on how it has to go on your mast. Good luck!
