Mast cable

I'm replacing my mast cable and only need 3 wires. The West Marine catalog has triplex cable but says it's for AC. Any reason I shouldn't use it for DC?

if it is composed if fine copper wires rather than coarse copper wires, it will be fine for DC use..... sometimes the ac wires are heavier, coarser wires and they wont be as flexible and will have a higher resistance than is desirable for DC current....

Thanks for your reply. I've just found bilge pump cable, which is the gauge I need, and looks like a good solution.
