Looking for a mast buoy for a Hunter 15'. Want to prevent turtling and figured having a buoy at the top of the mast was good way. Any suggestions on where to find a buoy specifically designed for the boat or a common adaptable part ?
Not if he leaves the boat in the water while a storm whips up. Hobie Bob is the way to go, IMHO.I've seen these devices prevent turtling. Once you get some practice righting the boat, you can likely remove it. The air under the sail and in the mast slow down the process
I used to teach dinghy sailing. Day one: Put on your wetsuit, take the boat out into 20 feet of water and capsize. Once people realized that righting the boat was no big deal, they weren't afraid of capsizing and were ready to learn to sail. When I was learning to sail, the most valuable lesson we went through was capsizing drills.
I never thought about it like that. I always thought people were afraid of the waterI used to teach dinghy sailing. Day one: Put on your wetsuit, take the boat out into 20 feet of water and capsize.
