Can anyone give me the correct mast bend on a 34ft hunter....Its a 1987. I moved the boat to my new marina last fall and the mast is laying on two picnic benches right now..Last weekend a very large crane came in and we put in 55 sailboats in 5 hours. It cost us $34/person...not bad

1:10 rule

approx. 1 inch for every 10 ft. of mast ht. so about 5 inches for your mast.

The hunter manual says about 5 inches

The owners manual says about 5 inches, I'm fixing to re-tune mine and hopefully will lose some bad weatherhelm. I have a shoal draft 86 Hunter 34. Love the boat but unless I reef in 15to 18mph winds I have excessive weatherhelm and occaisionally round up with a gust. My main is a full batten Neil Pryde sail with alot of roach. I'm hoping taking some of the bend out will help, I'm about 7" of bend in mine I'm guessing and hope taking some of the bend out will help with the weatherhelm. In light winds my boat is "Some Kind Of Monster" for the other boats to keep up with and I really don't want to lose any light air performance. Any other suggestions on sail trim and tuning would be appreciated....Tim Welsh H34 AKA Cabo Wabo
