Hi all, we brought our vega27 home this past week and put in the garage. We are going to do some work on the mast base this winter since the mast is off. I didn't see a seal on the bottom of the mast were is sets on the base, is there suppose to be one? The mast was already taken down when we picked her up. I would like to reseal the mast base any ideas to what type of sealant to us. Looking for ideas Thanks Scott

I happen to be rewiring my mast at the moment.
The round opening is about 2.75 inches in diameter.
As I understand, the problem to be fixed is that water travels down the wires
and into the round hole, ending up on your interior floor.

I found a plastic 20 oz. pop bottle and cut it in half. Taking the upper half
and running the wires through the small end and out of the large end. Seal
the small end with caulk. Large end goes over the 2.75 inch opening forming
a roof.

The problem is, I did this on my boat some years back with a larger pop bottle
and I still saw water coming in.

This time, I plan to put a hose clamp on the large end. I am assuming
that it got dislodged the first time?

Any help appreciated.
