E are sailing the last week of June to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. I'd love some input as to whether we should go to oak bluffs or edgartown. We want to rent bikes and see the island, maybe hit the beach. Our 22 and 28 year old kids will be with us.

You are very lucky sailors! We spent 7 days on the schooner Shenandoah and so left
from Vineyard Haven...prior to catching the boat we spent two days in Menemsha and one day at Edgertown...saw Oak Bluffs but just drove by...On Nantucket we spent a week at a home on Tom Nevers Lane, (owned by a Wichita family) which was great fun....I think overall we had more fun maybe in Nantucket....both are really beautiful to a Kansas boy like me...I spent 3 years in Newport and never reallly left..lived got 3 years in Bonniecrest on the Ocean Drive. My wife was scared of riding mopeds on Martha's Vinyard so we ended up renting an old Mercury Cougar convertible... Have a
great time!...I know you will. Pat

Marina, anchor or mooring?

Edgertown is quite scenic. Oak Bluffs is more touristy and party town. Dock space at either will be pricy.

We anchored in Vineyard Haven for about a week and dinghied ashore. Big bus terminal right near dink dock.
You can go to the town dock for water any time.

Moorings run about $60/nite or so. With a decent ground tackle setup it's safe and easy.
Perhaps, if the weather is benign, give Vineyard Haven a try for a day or two. There is also a very well protected pond just west of VH, cant remember the name right now.
Lots of options.
