I drove through Barnegat this summer while visiting my son. A very quaint and interesting seaside community to say the least. However, I have never sailed from there so I don’t know the conditions you would be sailing in.
Every boat is a compromise. The MH33 is no different. I would define it as a coastal cruiser, comfortable in under 25kt winds and 6’ seas. Anything over that the boat is still safe but not comfortable (unlike our friends IPY 350 which is just coming up to speed). Given that it is short on under deck storage and fuel and domestic water capacities, I find that 3 - 5 days away from a marina is about it; although, we have stretched that to 10 - 12 on occasion. Once the sails are balanced this hard chined boat tracks like on rails. Speaking of rails you will find it backs into a slip with ease given the lack of prop walk with the sail drive.
I don't have any complaints with the boat or at least none that with a bit of time and money can’t be been corrected. But that is personalizing a boat rather than fixing a design problem. So no major concerns
If you have something specific you would like to know then let me know. I am open to discussion especially where we are now in the off sailing season.
