I own a 1982 Catalina 30 - Mark 1. She has a universal 11 H/P Model # 5411 ( serial # 312287 ) with a westerbeke fresh water cooling kit. The pump for this kit is westerbeke part number 303069 ( old part # 300121). I recently had the engine rebuilt but this pump went missing. The price for a new one is $700.00 plus. Are there any less expensive alternatives?? LOL Remaining somewhat hopeful. Thank you, David

There is something terribly WRONG with the price of that pump. The 5411 model I believe is not even made anymore or, maybe because you're in Australia the price is inflated.
Check with the guys I use, they will tell you. New model universal(Westerbeke) pumps sell for around $250.00-$300.00 & overpriced since Westerbeke bought out Universal.
Your in Australia so, check with some distributers there. If not getting a good price, here's a link to check pricing. Hell, even having it dropped shipped from the US may be cheaper. (Yacht Power Products@ (USA)727.822.2628). You can check on the pump on their website for a quote.

David, I also have the 5411 Universal, with the original raw water cooling setup.
With the Oberdorfer style raw water cooling pump, it actually works really well at cooling the engine. If you are already missing expensive fresh water Westerbeke parts, why not just go back to the original design, which would be cheaper & works well.
I understand the point of fresh water cooling is to cut down on corrosive sea water from running through the engine block, but in reality, the salt just clogs up the fresh water heat exchanger which is usually too small for the system. Then the engine overheats. So why not just keep it simple & go back to the original design. My engine has also been rebuilt & I can assure you that the raw water cooling setup is less to maintain, or go bad, & is very reliable.
