Hi all - new to the site, and fairly new to sailing. We have a Mariner Regal 3 burner LPG stove/oven on board our Westail 43, and in spite of meticulous records kept by the previous owner, I can't find a manual. I'm sure I'm not using this item to its capacity, and would appreciate any information about features or manuals. I've figured out the "off/on" part, but there's a "grill" knob that I don't know what to do with at all. Can I broil? Etc.

Thank you!
Barbara

Hi Barbara and welcome. You may be new to sailing but I bet that you are not new to kitchens. Lacking good information from others who may be knowledgeable treat it as you would a stove in a rented cabin and delve into it and figure out how it works. It is a cook stove first and just happens to be on a boat.

Barbara,

Welcome, hope we can help. You said there's an oven component. If there is, there's a separate "burner" inside the oven. Usually you have to assure that gas has gotten to this burner before you can ignite it. On the "standard" Seaward brand and other ovens, this means lighting one of the top burners, usually the right one, to make sure gas is all through the system. Turn off the top burner, and get a long wooden matchstick or one of the long butane lighters, turn on the oven or broiler knob and light the burner at the bottom. There's usually a small pilot light that starts and then it will turn on the oven burner in a few minutes when the thermocouple heats up.

Depending on how the unit is structured, physically, you can bake or broil, but that depends on the layout of the shelves, the location of the burner and how high the unit is.

Look around down near the bottom of the oven portion for the burner assembly.
