This summer has been one of slowly refitting our 67 mariner. We did put off one thing that I think we should address at the end of the season which is removing and refinishing our centerboard. When we bought our boat in the spring, we scraped and painted the bottom. We also lowered the centerboard as much as we could (on our trailer and some blocking) and smeared on this 2 part marine epoxy glop -- especially on the leading edge. It certainly isn't elegant, but I think it's pretty tough stuff . However, I think we need to get it ground down and really refinished. . Any suggestions? I am just worried that we will start grinding and find that our CB is larely rusted iron and therefore lose a good deal of strength and weight. -h. hey
