I am new to marine systems especially electric. We just bought a '86 F375 and are wondering about installing a microwave oven. Do they run on 12v dc? Do they likk your batteries?Mike
and regular 110 volt microwaves. I have seen some somewhere with built-in inverters, not sure if the link I've posted is one of them. Many truckers stores carry a package deal of an inverter & microwave. As a general rule inverters do suck a lot of power & most who use them monitor or otherwise watch battery charge carefully. For high usage of inverters extra battery capacity is usually warranted.
and most places now sell a kit of a Samsung Microwave & inverter.http://www.microwavecooking.com/12_Volt_Microwave.htmhttp://www.roadtrucker.com/feature-12-volt-microwave.htmI couldn't seem to edit previous post to add these websites.
I was searching for the same thing earlier this year. I went to the Samsung site and found 12V models in Europe and Australia. I appeared from the site they were expanding the line of 12V units for campers and trucks.
inverter, when I was searching this a few months ago also I thought that I found some available. While searching I found this excellent website about inverters on an RV site :http://www.ccis.com/home/mnemeth/12volt/12volta.htm
I'm thinking that the 12V units are true 12V not inverted power. All a microwave is a focused 2.4Ghz radio and a sophisticated timer and some shielding. It should be easy to do this on a 12V basis. Heck I have a 100watt ham radio that runs on 12V.Patkd4yor
