I am in the process of evaluating options to heat my Beneteau 423. Does anyone out there have any experiences with diesel marine heaters? Electric heaters are not an option as I do not want to be tied to a dock whenever heat is desired. From the little research I have done I have a favorable inpression of the Webasto product line. If anyone has specific experiences I would be very grateful. Thank you Jeff Chicago

Wallas, either 30D or 40D...great units out of

Seattle made in on of those Scandinavian countries. Probably the 40D for your size boat. Great workmanship. Look it up in the archives. abe

Check Dickenson

I have a Dickenson Newport Diesel heater in my salon. The flat 11-liter day tank is on the other side of the main bulkhead in the forward head. It is a little tricky to light but is safe, warm, comforting and dries the boat out well. Not propane.

Hi Jeff, ditto Abe's recommendations...

I installed a Wallas 40D on our P42 to extend the sailing season. One of the best additions to the boat. Scan Marine out of Seattle is the North American distributor. Easy to install yourself with the right tools. Quiet and easy to operate, power and fuel efficient and really warms things up in a hurry. I opted for the forced air model because it is easier to maintain, lower cost and fewer parts. Terry

3rd the Wallas

Also give kudos to the Wallas heaters. I have a Wallas 3000DX in my C-42. Works like a charm and heats up the boat fairly quickly.

Hi Jeff, we have a webasto heater on our 393 Beneteau and have used it since spring of 2006. Great heater ; quiet, takes little space in our cockpit locker and best of all uses very little fuel. Willem
