Marine Head Lever Position

What position should the lever be in when the head is not being used? Flush or Pump Dry? Is there usually fluid in the head (1/4 full) when not being used for a extended period of time? Thanks.

What head? Ours is a W/C Head Mate. I leave it on fill not flush.

On my Raritan PH II I leave mine on Dry. I think that I did the same on my Jabsco. Don't forget to close the through hull when you are underway unless you have a vented loop in the intake line.
