Thinking of buying Gas Station Diesel which is much cheaper than buying at Marina...but is Marine Diesel different than Gas Station Diesel???

I'm thinking it would work the same as Marine Diesel....right?

Personally I think they add $$$ to the price just because the word marine is attached. I would rather buy and use fuel from delivery tanks that are most likely replenished weekly at truck stops than from the occasional marina that happens to sell diesel along with their gas. Buy some jerry cans and tote your own is my choice.

What I did, was to find out where the municipal truck fleet tanks up. That station has a high turnover so that the diesel doesn't stay in the underground tank that long. Never had a problem.

Just my 2 cents

I have driven a diesel pick-up since 2004. I have found the best diesel comes from a local truck stop that does a high volume. I generally use a couple of jerry cans to top off the boat in the spring.

Once the season gets into full swing and the fuel starts turning over in the marina I top off at the fuel dock. It is easier - pumpout & fuel at the same time. Last summer we had an Azimut 70 top off his tanks and grab a cool 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel! That keeps it fresh for sure. I think the cost differential between the off-road fuel sold at marina prices and the over-the-road stuff w/ taxes makes it a wash.
