My refrigeration guy was asking about electrolysis problems with marine units. It seems I've been developing what he considers leaks on the "high" side of unit due to possible electrolysis ( due to lack of bonding ? / different metals ?) This is a reverse cooling/heating unit 16,000 btu's (Marine Air) and really not used much. He's repaired a leak and sniffed I think two more. Any recomendations ??? Thanks for the help.!!

Marine HVAC

I have a 30T with an Ocean Marine HVAC after market installed. Wouldn't doubt your service man's observation. Mine has eaten up the s/s fine mesh screen in the Sherwood raw water strainer pretty severely and I only open the seacock when in use - rarely. Had a difficult time finding a replacement, which tells me this is not a common problem. I will eagerly await suggested solutions from the HOW techs.

ELECTROLYSIS

You need to have the boat checked by a marine electrician to find and cure the cause for this. Losing a screen or developing a refrigerant leak due to electrolysis is not a big deal when compared to the catastrophic possibility of losing a thru-hull.
