Im hoping to get some info please, well we are moving to Jacksonville FL.
in 30 days,
been looking for places to keep the sailboat, back here in IN. Im use to paying around $1600 for the slip, ( regular working class here) Im not finding anything less then $3k and up, am I looking in the wrong places? does anyone know of slips, docks, that is close to the area that maaybe around $2000. any help will do and thanks. its a mac 26s.

You have a lot of homeowners on the St. John's River that have docks. I would drive to some of the vacant docks and ring the doorbell. It will not take you long to find a homeowner that is interested in renting their dock in the $100 - $150 range. Just make sure you let them know if you plan on staying on the boat and if that is cool. I know a few guys that have gone door to door and found a nice dock at a reasonable rate.

Try looking in local news paper and try local marina store,I have seen more
slips for rent in this economy.

To borrow your term, a working class saling club with wet and dry storage.
Also check out Jacksonville Craigslist. I recall seeing some marinas advertising in the <$8 a foot range recently.
It is not in your price range, but I used to keep my boat at
http://www.oycm.com/
You would be hard pressed to find a marina that offered more protection.
