Talked to the manager at the Palm Harbour Marina this weekend, and he said there was no problem with leaving you car and trailer for a few days. It would be better to do it during the week, as this place gets real busy during the weekends, and parking is limited. If you did it over a weekend, they may charge you a small daily fee ($5-10)for storing you car and trailer. The marina is fairly secure at all times. We have had our boat there for 3 years, and have not had or heard of any vandalism problems. The only other consideration is the tides. If you have a winged keel, like ours, you can not get out at low tide. You have to come and go out after the tide is at the 1 foot level. Swing keel should not be a problem. Have any questions, let me know. Thanks, Sam

Can you help me out

Sam, My daughter and new grandson live in Palm Harbor and we are going down for a visit on April 15. Do you know of any place close by that charter's out hunters or for that matter all sailboats in general. I would be interested in getting my grandson started out on the the right foot, or the right sea leg, so to speak more appropriately. Thanks, Bill

Sorry to keep bugging you Sam, but....

I couldn't find Palm Harbour Marina but I found two other possibilities. The first is Island Harbour Marina, which is on Alt. US 19 between Tampa Rd and Curlew Rd (the road that goes over to Honeymoon Island). The second is Palm Harbor Resort which is farther north on Alt. US 19 near Crystal Beach. I used to visit this area a lot but haven't been there in the last five or six years. Do they still race beach cats off the Honeymoon Island causeway on the weekends? Thanks again.
