I want to see if there is any Marinas in the Chicago area, (south) where I could keep my boat. I am going to be working in Joliet and would like to take my boat and live and sail on the Great lakes. Does anyone have any suggetions, I will need to transport it from Atlantic City, NJ area.

try these

i have attached a link to westrec, who run all the marinas in chicago for the park district. there is a multi year waiting list for slips, but you can usually get a can in monroe harbor! there is free tender service at monroe but i hear the wait times are long during peak times, http://www.westrec.com/ChicagoHome.html you can also check into the hammond indiana harbor it is not much more of a drive from joliet and it will be alot cheaper! see you on the lake mike

A good one on the state line

From what I've heard, the Chicago marinas have a long waiting list. Try the Hammond Marina in Hammond Indiana 219-659-7678. If you look at mapquest, it's the closest Indiana city to Chicago. There website seems to be down but it's a nice marina with plenty of parking. Unfortunately, you'll be in for quite a commute since I80 will be underconstruction this summer. Maybe you can find a different route. Good luck.
