Mapping Electronics Wiring

I have a 2001 Hunter 420 Passage.
We have Raymarine Seatalk wiring for instruments, wind, depth, speed, autopilot, radar with radar, Autopilot remote and a ST60 Maxiview in the Nav Station. We added a new Radar Dome and Raymarine Axion 7. I have started mapping out the current cabling for the electronics to see how it may be better configured. It is a struggle to trace alot of the cabling but just found a triple seatalk connector block in the back side of the main electrical panel. This helped a lot (was able to see where some cabling lead by using my continuity tester) but I am still missing a few links. I am reaching out to other 420 owners on where another connector block may be hidden or if I can get suggestions on tracing cabling.

Your electronics were likely added by a dealer, not Hunter. Your boat is probably unique.

A tone generator and tracer for phone lines may help in this situation. Removing the plastic tip off of the tracer may make it work better. We have two at work. The one that has the plastic tip is used to find the line in a group of wires but it's way too sensitive to figure out exactly which wire we are looking for. The one with the broken tip works great for pinpointing the exact wire. PM me if you want some more info on these devices

We added a new Radar Dome and Raymarine Axion 9. All interfaces well. I want to add a Axiom 7 and have the VHF via AIS, show ship locations on the Axion's. Welcome to owning a boat. If you’re lucky, the PO was either handy, or hired good technical people. It’s not uncommon to buy a boat & trace wiring that goes nowhere. Buy a small labelling machine, and tag all the wires as you sort them out. It’s the only way to keep track of it.

I have 2001 420. I have a 3 port seatalk connector behind the tv at the navigation station. I have a vesper xb8000 ais that easily syncs with my Raymarine E125.

Thanks for all of the help. I was able to trace everything. I wanted to be careful digging to hard on the 20 year old wire banks. Used the continuity function on my tester. Still looking to get my radio set up and everything will be good to go.
