Yamaha 25 MK II Naarden
Hi guys,

I have many questions about my boat.

- Does anyone know Magician V and know the differences between her and a standard yamaha 25 MKII ?

- Does anyone know the rating of the 25 MKII ?

I want to participate to the round of the island of Wight in the category quarter-tonner, just for fun since i have seen about 10 boats in Cowes that were far more equipped than mine.
I have another question; when i went with my boat to England i took a force 5 with gusts at 6 and my riggings under the wind were loose. Do you have the same problem ?
Maybe my riggings are too old and the best idea would be to replace them by Dyneema riggings or new stainless steel.

Thanks in advance for your answer !

Here is a link to Quarter Ton Class UK. They should be able to provide information on the rating for your boat or at least direct you where to the right source:

You might also try the Japan Sailing Site for and search for info on Magician V:

Rig tension

welcome aboard, I've never seen my rigging loose. Just took a look at my rig using a Loos&Co Model PT1 tension guage.
the # on my boat are:
Fwd Lower shroud -- 35lbs
Center Upper shroud--- 35lbs
Aft Lower shroud-- 37lbs

Forestay /backstay vary with adjustable backstay. I run it tight in any breeze to eliminate forestay sag. My boat has Dyform rigging so the numbers probably vary boat to boat.
I have a factory manual that goes into rigging pretty deep. I can send you a copy for the cost of Copying and Post, arround $20 USD, drop me a line at syntonossailor@yahoo.com if interested.
Others say they have an electronic version available. Check out the previous posts there is a lot of info, we've been very active
