When you order a new mainsail, does the provider automatically put the boat model logo on the sail? I haven't seen it listed as an option anywhere. I haven't ordered a new sail since 1965 and that was for a William Cox "Rebel." The Doyle sail on my H240 is 23 years old and held together with sail tape. A new one from this website is about $1,900 with three reefing points, etc. I was happy to see that Doyle is the provider.

It's usually an option, and costs a little. All sailmakers I've dealt with are using CAD and automated cutting systems, and the various maker's logos are in their CAD library.

When I ordered a mainsail through Blue Water Yachts it came with the manufacturer's logo at no extra charge. With most sail lofts I would imagine you would need to request it and that some may not provide that service. Most likely those that do will charge a fee.

Doyle made me a new main about 4yrs ago. Logo and a number were extra.

I have found that he major sail lofts will include your class logo at no or minimal cost. They will often also include a couple of draft stripes on the main, if you ask nicely. Sail numbers are usually extra, but worth it IMHO. (with numbers on your main and overlapping head sails you at least have an option of someday entering a race.)

On the subject, I have an insignia and numbers that I have self-applied to several sails I have owned. I ordered self-adhesive Dacron (available in 54" wide sheets from Sailrite) and took it to my local sign shop. They used the same equipment that they cut self-adhesive vinyl with, working from high-resolution PDF files. Application takes planning and patience, but I have save a ton of money doing it myself since the sign shop charged me only for labor.

Problem solved. There is an error in the HTML code that does not pass on the boat manufacturer's name to the options page and the "add builders insignia" option is not displayed. It is a $65.00 adder.

If I remember right that’s roughly what North Sails charged me for an insignia on a main about 10 years ago.
