We bought a 1989 Hunter 30 last year. I need to replace the parts in the pump on the head. The gaskets around the pump needs to be replaced. I have no paperwork telling me the manufacture of the head. Can you tell me which manufacturer Hunter used that year? Thanks!

Best guess: Jabsco.

However, your boat's 11 years old...older than the lifespan of most manual marine toilets. So it's entirely possible that a previous owner has replaced the factory original. Compare yours with the photos of toilets in the WM etc catalogs and you should find a close enough match for it to identify which brand it is. If it is still original, I'm not sure rebuilding it will help it much...and since you can buy a whole new one for about the price of two rebuild kits, you'd be better off replacing it than rebuilding it.

Thanks Peggy, According to the previous owner it is the original head. I hadn't thought of simply replacing it; I'll take a look at that. Thanks again, Mike

I too had problems with my head. I went to the local boat stores and found that with all of the spare parts and such, I was not given the thing I really needed and that was a cotter pin to retain the seal on the plunger. I was told by Jabsco that the ring was no longer available and they sent me free of charge the newer type of plunger. Give them a call. I'm sorry but I do not have their number.
