I am replacing my original ITT Jabsco manual Head (29090-0000) on my Hunter 33.5 (1990) with a new head of the same make & model (Jabsco 29090-2000). Question is: when I remove the existing 4 mounting bolts, will the nuts remain in place or will the fall off. There does not seem to be any way to reach under the pan mount. Are the nuts cast in or does it have a mounting plate? Or are there just individual nuts?

I don't think there are any nuts holding the base.

I just spent 20 minutes looking at the exploded drawings for all the Jabsco toilets, and they all only show bolts going through the base into whatever the toilet is mounted on...no nuts. And none in the parts lists except for those that hold the bowl on the base.

Hi, Peggy,

Thanks for the reply. I also just got an e-mail from Joe Keer of Hunter Marine. He said that they are LAG bolts... no nuts involved. I think I would have preferred molded in nuts to lag bolts into fiberglass for re-applying the bolts. I'll see how it goes. Thanks again. Dick

You might want to...

Fill the existing holes and drill new ones (you can go right back through the filler)...just to be sure the bolts get a good bite so the head doesn't wobble.

I agree

I replaced my head and drilled new holes, loaded with plenty of caulk for a good grip and lag bolted. Has worked fine for 2 years now.
