The H260 comes with an electric bilge pump, but what if the battery is dead or the pump fails? Do you have a manual backup pump on your boat? Why or why not? Fair winds... Tom

Absolutely

I have a manual pump as well as a couple of buckets, just in case the battery goes dead. In a catastrophe, a fully charged battery can fail too. Like they say, nothing bails water faster than a scared sailor with a bucket! Peter

You answered your own question

What are you going to do if you get a leak and your electric bilge pump doesn't work? It happened to me.

Cockpit mounted

I purchased a Guzzler 500 and mounted it to a piece of plywood with a square wood peg on bottom. The peg fits the table mounting hole in the cockpit sole. Now I can pump from cockpit and have it rigidly mounted to really get full working capacity. Never had to use it yet and hope I don't.

Mine is built in

on the port side of the swim platform, handle stored under the port cockpit locker lid.

Definitely

My electric Bilge pump failed this weekend due to an error made by my dealer. I had shore-power (negotiated as part of my purchase) on Friday. The tech who did the job accidentally connected the house ground to the battery's positive lead by mistake and fried the pump. Thankfully I had a manual pump to take care of the water. Tom

Love that mop bucket

I have not yet installed a manual pump. I like some of the ideas here. I do carry more than one bucket and use them while cleaning the boat. During a hitch in the Navy I participated in the scared sailor with a bucket routine. Take good care of that bucket. Bill Short Wave
