My manual bilge pump on my First 30E needs to be either rebuilt or replaced. The problem is that it is in a place that is extremely difficult to see to determine what type it is. Does anyone know what manufacture Beneteau used on these or similiar size boats?

Maybe if you post a picture of what is visible. Is this a cockpit mounted? Has a cover? Up and down handle?

It is mounted in the cockpit at the stern vertically above the starboard seat. Here is a picture of the bottom and a view from the outside. IMG_0731.jpgphoto 2.jpg

I see no reason to need to replace it with the same and any manual pump that fits the space should work. Looks like a standard Whale pump to me.

It does look like a Whale Gusher pump. You will need to get it out of there in any case to ID the model and rebuild it. The diaphragm on that 30 y.o. jewel is likely shot.

I appreciate the input from you folks. I will get to work on getting it out just as soon as the temp get above freezing.

Benfirst, I am not sure you got this figured out. My 84 30E has the same pump, which stopped working. The issue ended up being dirt stuck in the valves which prevents the vacuum effect it should have when pumping. I took the pump out ... had to crawl into the cockpit locker and be in an awkward position for a while to get the nuts in the back out. And when you put it back on, you need someone to help hold things in place and put in the screws while you hold it in place from underneath.

Once I cleaned it up, I put a filter on the other end of the hose inside the bilge. This was to make sure more dirt does not get sucked in and get it stuck again. Been over a year now and the old pump works just fine.

search this forum for 30E and you will see another thread where I was discussing it a while back.
