Hi Giani--measure the hole for the handle with veneers and have a ;machinist friend make you the proper handle that you need. When you need the pump you really need the pump to work. Do not settle for less. jorgen

Hi Group!
I seem to be without the handle that operates the manual bilge pump
located at rear of cockpit.
I tried 3/4" pvc (too small) and 1" (too big) to fit in slot.
Anyone have a sugesstion?
Thanks and regards,
Giani

Giani, I think veneers should be verniers (a type of caliper). You might try
wood dowels to determine the fit. PVC size refers to the inside diameter so
3/4" ID has a larger outside diameter and if it won't fit in the pump hole
start with a wooden dowel larger than 3/4". Save the receipt and return the
dowels when you're through. Somewhere near you there is somebody who deals
in scrap metal. Find them and ask to look through their stainless scrap.
You will probably find what you are looking for. You will pay for it by
weight when buying scrap. Get a piece a bit longet than you think you will
need. Longer gives more leverage but your arm will need to move more.
Shorter means less arm movement. You decide on whats comfortable for you.
Our handle is stored om metal clips next to the pump. We tether it to the
boat with a piece of dacron cord and roll the cord onto the handle to store
the excess.
