I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Well, this Sunday and into Monday I will be transporting my boat, Spirit of Liberty, from Colonial Beach to Deltaville. It is a bit of a trek and I will take two days to do it.

I am not thrilled about the weather. The water temp is still cool and the temp at night will be around 45. It is going to be a cold trip.

Once she is in Deltaville she will be placed in a brokerage lot. Hopefully she will sell there because she has not had much action in Colonial Beach.

Hopefully I will get one more good sail out of her. I am looking forward to one last trip but it is also like a long goodbye.

I sold my beloved Artemis last spring. Those who say the happiest days of a boater's life are the day they buy and the day they sell, are wrong. I was not at all happy the day I sold - although it took months so it wasn't really a day. The last time I saw the boat I gave it a bow hug and there was a tear in my eye. Not happy at all. The only good thing about selling is that there are new opportunities. So look forward, not back and life goes on.

It is hard to part with a good boat but I'm sure the added exposure it will receive in Deltaville will result in a quicker and better sale. Prepare some beef stew or chili and have some hot beverages and enjoy the two day outing. Soak in all the memories you can and get ready to move on. Good luck.

Thanks guys....I agree with moving on. I have plans but it is still tough.

This has been an awesome boat. I have owned her for 8 years and cruised her to a lot of spots on the Chesapeake Bay. She has seen me through rough weather and amazing trips alike. I think that I have bled enough on her for her to be a blood relation.

I agree with shemandr, it is not one of the happiest days in my life. I look forward to moving on but it is hard. I wish that I was moving up to a newer bigger boat with some more features, but I will be moving back to a trailer sailor for a while. This is where life is pushing me now so that is where I must go.

Look at the bright side ...
With a smaller boat, you'll have more money to buy margaritas at Salsas ; )

Shouldn't be too bad Cap. We have a warming trend on the Bay this weekend and the winds look favorable for a sail the whole way into Deltaville. Just check my weather service for Pt. Lookout... Moderate west winds most of Saturday going light on Sunday, and moving to north. Should be glorious! Dig out that winter bag and your poly long johns. As they say up north, the only people who don't like winter weather are the ones who don't know how to dress for it.

Making regular trips to Deltaville for short sails will give you a chance to inspect the boat and look after staging for buyers. The selling season is upon us. Good luck, there is another great boat out there with your name on it.

I bought my boat two years ago this month and moved it from Georgetown (Sassafras River) to Deale in one day. I don't know how your boat is configured but mine has a dodger and a bimini with a filler panel to connect the two. That filler panel made a huge difference in keeping us comfortable during the trip. I know this because we removed it breifly--I don't remember why.

I made it!

It was a rough trip yesterday. Winds were blowing 25 knots and the waves were huge. I was frequently seeing 9 knots on the GPS while surfing down waves. At one point I saw 9.7 knots!

The boat is now on the hard in Deltaville.

Pray for a good sale to someone who will treat the boat like a lady and who will use her a lot. I have loved this boat, cared for her well, and she cared for me as well.
