Cherubini Hunters
I have not heard of a 33' like the one you are looking at. I have a 1978 33'. There are many 33' owners who frequent this forum and there are a number of posts that address almost every feature of the boat.
Based upon the age of the boat you should expext many modifications and upgrades. Electronics are almost obsolete the moment they come from the factory. Check to be sure the thru-hulls have been replaced with upgrades. Common leak points are at the rudder post. Under speed water is driven up the post and around the (now dried out stuffing material). Just had mine replaced at about $ 600.00 although it is a "do-it-yourself" job for $ 3.25 in materials...yes, really.
Insure the fuel tank does not leak. Those older tanks are prone to "pinhole leaks." I replaced mine myself at about two weekends and $ 200.00. Again, a "do-it yourself" project.
Just replaced my windows. The "dogs" break off eventually, or the window simply leaks. New Found Metals have the best replacement windows at the best price. Customer service is excellent and they offer a template to insure the holes are properly placed. No additional cutting rewuired for the opening. A small "cut" for the drain. Looks great when completed. About 1 1/2 hour per window. You get a little faster with each one.
The original "hull-liner" should be replaced if it has not been. Defender sells a wonderful "teak tinted" stain. If you remove the hulliner use the stuff to renew the woodwork. Sailrite has the hull-liner at the best price. Works great...looks even better.
Replace the original stove with something else. Origo non-pressurized stove works fine....propane oven and stove expands your cooking range.
Here in the Northeast I spend several nights on my boat all year round. I have a Dickinson Propane fireplace (yes, a fireplace). It is simply a wonderful addition to a cold winter day on the water.
Taken care of, these boats are a bargain. Thier lines are classis and they were designed by a man who knew how to fit what you need in the space available.
Shortly after I bought mine five years ago another forum member said his dream boat was the one I just owned.
I needed no more conformation that I had made the right decision. I beleive that more firmly now.
Good Luck!
