Making a Lazy Jack Cradle

We are thinking about making a lazy jack cradle out of our existing mainsail cover. We thought about cutting it down the center and adding a piece of material at the cut ends, along with pvc pipe or something to give it shape, plus a zipper or velcro.
Has anyone tried this? Any advice?

Wow! Thanks.
That looks like just what I need. Don't have time to watch it now....but definitely will.
Has anyone tried it?
If we can use our old sail cover, we have all the fasteners onto the boom, plus zippered cutouts for lazy jacks

Sail rite has a DVD of making a stack pack. You can watch it over and over. I know we did.

We used their plans...

...but modified them somewhat....

...as we didn't want the pack so high at the mast end while sailing so have a separate boot for that area.

The info is here....

and there are a couple videos of it on youtube at this link also...

It was easier to make than the one...

...we made for the Mac which has worked great.

I wish I could say that we have tried the one for the Endeavour on the water but some health issues are getting in the way of that,

Don Casey has a section on making a stack pack in the latest edition of "This Old Boat" with some of the trade offs with different design choices.

I just ordered that book yesterday. Should have it by Tuesday. Can't wait to see the new content. We learned a lot from the first edition.
