I was just given a 72 Starcraft Skylark, just a 14 ft fun boat. I can't wait to try her out. Here's the problem, No sail. While I'm looking, can you make any sujestions as to what can be used, or what you have used as a makeshift sail. I'm leaning to one of those blue tarps from the home improvement center.
Don't tell my V222 I'm seeing someone else on the side ;)

Tyvek building wrap is good if you can hobo a big piece.

Blue traps always look like blue tarps but they work

White tarp

Look around and you can find white tarps. Go to www.stevproj.com for some boats built with tarp sails. There are a couple of Stevenson boat specific forums out there that may have some good information on buying the tarps and how to construct. Also, just found this link on the stevenson page that may be a help.

Give ebay a try

Check out ebay for a sail. There are a bunch of sails on there most of the time. Many are model specific, but lots of them just have the measurements. And some go for not much more than the cost of a tarp. Have seen some for 20 or 30 bucks, for smaller boats.

The free pile

At the entrance to my marina we have a free pile. All sorts of useless stuff sometimes but over the past six months, I have seen at least three sails in the pile. Sometimes old sunbrella boat covers too. If you have a sewing machine, you could make most any scrap work. Happy Hunting!
