Am a new owner of a 23ft hunter and have the boat in my front yard with some work yet to do before setting sail. Have some of the rigging apart and would like to take all the lines off to inspect, clean, ect. but am nervous about getting them all back the way they came. Any tricks, pointers for this affair?

I'm not sure if you are referring to the standing rigging (metal cables that hold up the mast) or the running rigging (lines to control the boom and trim the sails). In any event,if you have a digital camera, just take as many pictures as you feel necessary before you take things apart. Draw rough diagrams by hand too. Alwys works for me with boats or anything else I try to service.

In order to make sure you can re-thread the halyards, etc. you can sew some cheap nylon cord to the tails of the lines, pull the lines out and disconnect the cord. This will give you a pull cord for reinstalling the halyards, etc.
