You should have a manual for your boat if you are lucky, and it should have a full list of all the size and length requirements. The above is for a Catalina Capri 22, so it may be off slightly. If you don't have the manual, I would try to find someone who does, and get a photocopy of it. Catalina Direct (www.catalinadirect.com?) also has a nice manual/book on the Catalina 22's. And while your at it

catalina direct sells a kit that puts the main sheet where it belongs- midway on the boom so you don't have to hold the tiller and sheet in a very unnatural (but stock) position.it was easy to install and makes it feel right
