It is an ideal rig for a racing boat. I consider it a bit much for a cruising boat. It took me some time to gain a more laid-back style while cruising. Initially, I was constantly fiddling with the gear. Critical on-course control at the helm and squeaking the last amount of trim from the sails. I have managed to curb my obsession, mostly.
Now I set the rig and course, letting the boat ride through puffs and lulls, generally monitoring VMG. If it slips 1-2 knots, I reset. The course and fine adjustments of this rig design would drag me backward.
But if I were racing, it sure would be nice to have.
