The sheaves, which I believe are original, are almost gone. Has anyone rehabbed the multi-block mainsheet system on a Cherubini H27? If so, what did you use for replacements or did you reinvent/revise the system? Andy "Baroque"

I have an 84 H27 and replaced the original mainsheet mess with a traveler. What a difference it makes in the boats windward proformance! It was worth the effort.

Garhauer.

I cannot remember your rigging Andy. But whether original or upgraded to a traveler I don't think you can beat Garhauer for price and quality. If staying with the original 'V' over the companionway you could just go like for like. Or you could improve the purchase with bigger fiddle blocks. You can buy the individual sheaves and replace with some effort. Usually you have to drill out the pin and replace with a stainless bolt/nut. An other option would be a Garhauer traveler over the companionway. An easy upgrade but not inexpensive.

I've done that.........

I just bought a plain sheeve from West Marine, then a small SS Shoulder bolt and Nylock Nut from McMaster Carr. As I recall, I did have to drill out both the carrier and the sheeve to match up to what I had but the cost was really inexpensive, especially compared to the alternatives (ie. new traveler, much as I would love to do that).

Sheave Replacement

Just rebuilt one on a H-30. Bought the parts from Rig-Rite, "ouch". A little pricey, but they have the parts. The original pins, I replaced with clevis pins. If I had to do it over, I would do what Ed suggests and purchase a Garhauer traveler.
