I don't know who else races thease dogs, but here is a picture of the traveller I installed trying to get better mainsail shape in the drifters that plague this desert pond. Also added a couple of blocks inside the boom for a 4 to 1 outhaul.

Your traveler has no affect on mainsail shape. The traveler only controls angle of attack. Drifter conditions are the most challenging for sailors. Mainsail condition and shape are key to boat speed. In under 2kts of true breeze, you will need an ultra flat main. In very light breeze the air has a difficult time staying attached to the sail. As the breeze increases the sail can afford a little more draft. Also in light air wind shear can be a difficult problem to deal with. As the breeze approaches water level it slows down whereas aloft it will be traveling at higher speeds and different angles.
