Question is: i picked up a pretty nice used main for cheap however it has a bolt rope (pain in butt) rather than slugs, is there any options of attaching slugs without sending sail out to have eyelets installed. I thought once i read about one's that attach to bolt rope.

One of the sail mags had a article in recent years about how to sew (It's actually a lashing) slugs on a sail. It was quite involved but do-able. You would probably need to add re-inforcement patches to the sail where the slugs would be. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/bainbridge--sail-slugs--P002_068_001_502
I think I remember, on my Mark 25, there were plastic slides which had some sort of snap closure. Maybe:
The slugs would add around and inch or so to the so called length of the sail so you would need to be able to take that up with the outhaul.

I installed mine myself which was very, very easy took me about 20 minutes. I researched and learned that the screw in type that you install just on the inside of the bolt rope lasted for years....so far 3 years for me. I am rough on my sails in pretty high winds and my inexperience with too much flapping. I got them from the MacGregor site and even called and talked to them about it...how many I needed, directions etc. In the picture I included its the one all the way to the left. I can't believe I went through that first year of not having them (or knowing about them) because feeding that bolt rope was an ordeal! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
